Born in Trento (1956) Michele Nicoletti studied philosophy at the University of Bologna (Dr. Phil. 1980) and then, as a research fellow of the Istituto Trentino di Cultura, in Trento, Innsbruck and Munich. From 1991 to 2000 he worked as a researcher and then as a professor at the University of Padua and in 2001 he became Full Professor for Political Philosophy at the University of Trento. His research interests span from ethics and political theory. Visiting fellow at several international universities (i.a. Freiburg i.B.. KU Leuven, Notre Dame, IN, USA) he has been the scientific coordinator of national and international research projects (see http://webapps.unitn.it/Ugcvp/it/Web/ProdottiAutore/PER0004179)

2009 he was candidate at the European Parliament for the Italian Democratic Party. From 2009 to 2013 he was Secretary of that Party in Trentino (Italy), where in February 2013 he was elected MP in the Italian Chamber of Deputies, where he is member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Head of the Italian Delegation at the PACE.

In the PACE he has been General Rapporteur of the High-level Conference of the Social Charter (Turin, October 2014)

and Rapporteur on: Assessing the need for a comprehensive review of the Dublin regulation and its implementation; Corruption as governance regime: a barrier to institutional efficiency and progress.
